LUCA: STAGE 1The Primordial Stage of development occured 3.5 billion years ago. At this stage the Earth was very barren with no plants, animals, a diiferent atmosphere and lots of element-rich lakes. These lakes were mostly filled with Nitrogen, Hydrogen, Phosphorus, Carbon, and Iron. These chemicals provided the foundation of life as they make up the DNA in every living cell.
LUCA: STAGE 2The oceans that covered the Earth were full of chemicals and required something to kick start the creation of life. Apporximately 3.5 billion years ago the storms that covered the Earth began to strike the ocean, charging it with electricity. When the lighting struck the ocean it opened up vents releasing more elements into the water. This combination of lighting strikes and underwater vents allowed the perfect conditions for life to form.
LUCA: STAGE 3The heat and abundace of chemicals in the ocean allowed elements to start fusing. This lead to the formation of RNA, the simpler form of DNA, with half the genetic code. Now that RNA has been formed, the first life can start developing.
