- The Southern Secedes

- Abraham won the 1860 election, with 180 out of 303 on the electoral college. He did not get a single southern State. He also won the popular vote with a 40% to 30%. He was angulated in 1861.
- The Confederacy
- The south was uneasy due to Lincoln's presidency. They were scared of him being republican and speaking out against slavery in the past, that he might affect their business. So South Carolina had a vote for a Secedes on Dec. 20, 1860.
- Reaction of Secession
- A man of the name John Critten tried to stop South Carolina before they decided to secede. He tried to offer a contract that would make it so the idea of slavery would go back to the 30'36 line, and not by presidential choices.
- Presidential Response
- Texas, Mississippi, Louisiana, Georgia, Florida, and Alabama all followed South Cariola's path and came together to call a secede from America. They became known as the Confederate States of America. Choosing Jefferson Davis as their president.
- We are now known as the Confederacy
- People of the south celebrated. Now not having to fear their business being taken from them. They also believed that they had left the Union before its collapse, which brought them joy. But others could tell that something bad was coming.
- As James Bunchman, the 15th president, complained on how the southern states had no right in doing in what they did, and how he had no power to stop them. Lincoln didn't quite know what to do either. But he did know that America should not fight each other and come back together peacfully.
