Storyboard Text

  • anyone can go to their official and try to make a law, but a law only starts as a bill and must go along chain of elected members
  • that's why i am going to my elected official to ask him to write a bill.
  • i think we should have a new law to ban gas cars and only have smart cars.
  • their elected official of the state must write a bill to be passed on
  • i am writing a bill to be passed on to either congress or the house of representatives.
  • i agree with the bill.
  • the senators of this state must vote on if the bill should move on, if 51% agrees, the bill continues along
  • i disagree.
  • i agree.
  • i agree.
  • since the state senators were able to pass the bill in that state, it moves on to the congress. if it gets 51% it moves on
  • i disagree.

  • the final place a bill gets taken is the white house. the president can choose to pass or veto a bill. if he veto's a bill it doesn't become a law.
  • i'll sign the bill so that we can ban gas cars and only have smart cars now.
  • there is 3 other outcomes however
  • there is also a pocket veto which means if the congress goes out of session withing 10 days of giving me the bill i can choose not to sign it and it doesn't become a law.
  • if i veto the bill will get sent back to congress where they will vote again and its very unlikely that it will become a law unless i change my mind.
  • if i don't do anything for 10 days it will automatically become a law.
