  • Norm Mccovery found she was having a third child in June of 1969. She returned to Dallas, Texas, where her friends advised her to claim she had been unjustly raped.
  • This effort was unsuccessful because of the lack of police report. So of course, she attempted to get an illegal abortion, But the cops shut down the location.
  • She subsequently enlisted the services of attorney ‘s Linda Coffe and Sarah Wedington, who filed a lawsuit on the District Court of Texas. They submitted it in Norma’s behalf, but under the name Jane Roe.
  •  Wow that's actually insane, she must’ve been desperate to get rid of that baby
  • Henry wade, the Dallas County Attorney, was the defendant in the case. The district court dismissed her complaint on legal-on-legal grounds and refused to issue an injunction against the enforcing of anti-abortion statues.
  • The 9th amendment was used to make ruling. The 9th amendment essentially stated that other rights may exist in addition to those stated, and that just because they aren't named doesn't mean they can't be violated
