- Hello, today I’m going to interview you about our family tree. Do you want to present yourself to our viewers?
- Yes, I’m Leah, Joel’s mom. What would be your first question?
- At first I’d ask you if you told us who your parents were and what they’ve done. You can choose who to start with.
- My father was born on ... and my mother on ... . Because they were Jewish, they were persecuted by the Nazis. After WW2 they met each other and married.
- That’s interesting. Did your parents stay in Germany, after ww2 ended?
- Partially. My father left to the U.S, where he lived for a few years and my mother stayed.
- Ah okay, how come they married then? Where did they meet each other if your father has been in the U.S?
- My father got to work for the US-Army and was stationed in Germany, where he met my mother. Within the same year they married.
- Interesting. Do you know what your mother has been doing before she met your father? Or why she stayed in Germany?
- No, unfortunately I don’t know exactly what she has been doing before she met my father. But what I know, is that her family had real estate in Germany, so they stayed there.
