- The rest of the school year passes slowly for scout, the curriculum is too easy and she learns much faster than the rest of the class.
- One day on the way home from school, Scout sees a piece of tinfoil stocking out of one of the Radleys' oak trees. Inside she finds 2 pieces of chewing gum, Scout decides to tell Jem about it, but Jem tells Scout to spit the gum out.
- On the last day of school, Jem and Scout return to the oak tree where Scout found the gum, they take another loo inside the tree and find 2 old "Indian head" pennies hidden inside. Scout decides to keep the pennies.
- When Summer finally arrives, Dill returns to Maycomb. Dill, Jem and Scout decide to take turns rolling each other down a hill in a tire.
- When it's Scout's turn to roll in the tire, Jem pushes her too hard and she ends up rolling into the front yard of the Radleys' house. Both Jem and Scout start to panic. When Scout is out of harm's way, Jem comes up with the idea of a new game, "Boo Radley".
- One day Atticus catches the kids playing their new game, He asks if it is about the Radleys. Jem lies to Atticus, when Atticus is gone, the trio of kids start to question if it is actually safe to play their game anymore.
