The Fight Between a Group of Socs, Johnny, and Pony
Johnny and Pony Going to Dally for Help
In the first few chapters of The Outsiders, Ponyboy talks about how Johnny had been jumped and brutally beaten by a group of socs. When describing the incident, Ponyboy says that Johnny remembers being cut up by a soc with lots of rings.
Later in the story, Ponyboy and Johnny bump into a group of drunk socs in the park near a water fountain. Soon, a fight begins. The soc named Bob, who had lots of rings, started pushing Pony's head into the fountain. This connects to the previous event because Bob was the one who cut up Johnny. So, in fear that Bob would drown Pony, Johnny stabbed him and Bob dropped dead on the ground.
After the fight, Pony and Johnny freak out about what happened. Johnny is scared of what will happen because he murdered Bob. So, the boys head to a bar where Dally is at so he can help them. They go to Dally because he has a lot of knowledge on crime and can help them hide from the police.
