Before 1870, the Great Plains was a large open land fertile environment that was home for the Native Americans. Which, would later be fought over in a series of wars referred to as the Indian Wars, due to the effects of settlement.
Due to the Homestead act offering citizens 160 acres of free land in exchange for 5 years of farming, caused many to move out to the Great Plains. Many citizens just like John here took a transcontinental railroad to move out towards the west
Johns farm had bare necessities like a windmill, well, steel plow, and a fence lined with barbed wire to protect his property. Also due to the lack of rain many had groundwater wells. Although like many farmers in the area, due to the lack of resources many didnt have a house just like John.
Until...John had an idea. He noticed the large amount of soil and dirt around his property and with that idea in mind he decided to build a house out of the dirt!
(P.S they didnt have any dirt houses sorry).
All seemed to be going as good as it could be, until John noticed something far from his property. Something that looked like a war or fight...
Within seconds the Natives seemed to be gunned down by the superior fire power that the Americans had. Although, this wasn't a one time thing, over the course 25 years many more fights like this happened where Natives were slaughtered and massacred brutality by the Americans, which is known as the Indian Wars.
