For today's class, I am going to hand it over to Mrs. Davis. She is going to teach us sign language throughout the year.
Description: I chose presenting unusual information as a way to intrigue students about the content. One of the strategies was having a guest speaker so I had an interpreter come in and teach my kids a little sign language. I know as a kid one of my aunts' sisters taught at ISD in Jacksonville and would always teach us a little sign language and I always thought it was so cool. I also think it is a cool skill that kids could pick up and use in life if they have a family member or someone close to them that may benefit from it. I also know in college we were required for a midterm to sign our name because we were in a class learning about inclusiveness and I was still intrigued by it.
Hello class, I'm Mrs. Davis
This is the sign language alphabet. Today we are going to use these letters to learn how to spell our names.
That is close Poppy, but you are signing q for p and m for o. Keep practicing and you will get it.
