The Fall of the House of Usher

- “I shall perish,” said he, “I must perish in this deplorable folly. Thus, thus, and not otherwise, shall I be lost. I dread the events of the future, not in themselves, but in their results.
- We will bury her for a fortnight in the tomb below just in case she's not actually dead.
- U.S. gets a letter from a friend named Usher from childhood. The letter spoke of mental sickness that he was suffering from, so without hesitation, U.S. left to go see his old friend.
- Once U.S. arrives, he notices how Usher's room is dark, tattered, antique, and uncomforting. Usher greets him happily, but his looks did not match his voice. He looked corpsey and ill. While they were speaking after their greeting, U.S. thought he saw an apparition through the doorway. After Usher speaks of his cataleptic sister, he explains his own symptoms.
- Usher goes to tell U.S. of his sibling passing away. He talks of the plans for her since they do not know if she's actually dead or just asleep. Usher says they were going to put her in a coffin in the tomb which was more dungeon-like than anything for a fortnight. to be able to check on her. Usher starts to go even crazier than before. He starts to create interesting works of art like poems songs and paintings which all seem to reflect his mental state.
- They take her to the tomb and bury her in the wall.
- U.S. finds himself unable to sleep when Usher comes into the bedroom. A green storm emerged in the middle of the night. It filled the sky with a green hue and winds so strong that U.S. explained that he felt as if he would be lifted off the floor. Usher explains that his sister was alive, and he heard her scratching and moving around in her coffin. They heard the big door open, so they went downstairs to find Madeline. She lunged at Usher, causing him to have the life scared out of him . They died.
- Seeing everything happen from start to finish, U.S. was beyond freaked out about the death of his friend. Earlier, Usher had told U.S. that he had the idea that his whole family was cursed and that after the final death in the family, the house will be no more. So, after the death of Usher and Madeline, U.S. ran away and the house began to sink into the eerie abyss of the tarn.
