This is Divya and her family they are part of a tribal community in India. In the past few years, the environment that they call home has been exploited in the name of national development. This has caused several problems for Divya's family.
Why must we forage in this part of the forest? the other side has much better prospects
I agree
We have no choice the government has restricted our access to that area
Her tribe is being denied access to the land that they need to keep their families fed and for their tribe to survive.
That's not right this is OUR home not theirs
*sad sigh*
No its not right at all but what can we do?
How are we going to continue living when all our resources are being taken from us!
The tribes are being systematically removed from their homes to make room for the reservation of forest tracts with utter disregard for the forest rights of tribals.
There is almost ne place left for us this is the last livable area that hasn't been taken from us
and who knows how long it will be till they take this too!
They used the lands That they took from the tribes and started building dams and digging mines to harvest the mineral rich lands
All the while the tribes were left destitute
If we do not find more resources soon we will all starve
Our government routinely exploits tribal lands in the name of national development and while this may help the country progress it does great damage to the tribal people on India.
OH IM SO WORRIED!!
It needs to be acknowledged that the forest is their main source of livelihood and taking away their land goes against the spirit of article 21 of the constitution of India which provides the right to life and liberty of citizens, as has been interpreted by the supreme court of India
