- Ponyboy started screaming for Johnny after leaving through the front door, when he found Johnny Ponyboy asked for a cigarette as for him to calm his nerves.
- Ponyboy had just arrived home, and Darry was very mad and started asking Ponyboy why he arrived at 3 in the morning, Soda tried standing up for Ponyboy but it just got Darry more mad
- Where have you been???
- Gimme a cigarett
- sure
- Johnny then asked Ponyboy why he was so scared, Ponyboy replied "It was Darry. He hit me. I don't know what happened, but Icouldn't take him hollering at me and hitting me too." After Ponyboy replied Johnny said that he was lucky for having a supportive family (aka a gang that cared about him) while Johnny didn't have anyone to support him.
- Darry got so fed up that he slapped Ponyboy across his face which shocked everyone in the room, even Darry.
- why are you so sad
- Ponyboy started to relax and started to wonder if running away was a good idea, he decided to walk to the park and back so things start to cool down.
- After Darry slapped Ponyboy, Ponyboy ran out the front door, and in the background, you could hear Darry screaming "Sorry Ponyboy" and "Come back Ponyboy please"
- Let's walk to the park and back.
- Im sorry ponyboy
- Okay.
