Storyboard Text

  • War of 1812
  • Industrial Revolution
  • Increase in Urbanization
  • Britain blockaded the coastlines reducing the amount of cloth in America. Manufacturing in the U.S. started in the North, and soon we received respect for our actions of the attack.
  • Rapid Industrialization
  • There was an increase of factories, more jobs which pulled people towards the cities. Production, those jobs were being filled and that people were buying the products. Manufacturing, the goods were being made in the North.
  • Free Enterprise System
  • More people were moving to the cities in the North to work the jobs provided there. Transportation, housing construction, and migration to the cities gave industrialization a new innovated meaning.
  • Urbanization
  • The use of natural resources went up, which were then used in improving transportation. The growth of cities shot up causing the population to sky rocket, faster than in years before. New inventions, such as Eli Whitney's cotton gin created more jobs for slaves which boosted the economy.
  • Americans were allowed to create their own businesses, which let them choose partners, prices, and what they want to sell. We started to rely on our people for the goods and not so much on foreign countries.
  • The growth of a population in the cities which boosted the economy. But then differences in religion, class, and politics became issues due to the urbanization.
