- I am so worried. I don't know where to find the money to marry Portia.
- Don't worry Bassanio. I will help you. We will find a way.
- That Antonio thinks he is so smart. I can't wait to get a chance to trick him
- Oh No Antonio
- I want 3000 Ducats Shylock. Please
- Fine, but if you don't pay back on time i want 1 pound of your flesh.
- One upon a time in Venice a bad guy named Shylock was tricking a man forhis shop but a brave merchant called Antonio paid for the man and the man’sshop was saved. Antonio’s friend Bassanio was getting married and needed 3000ducats (which is money in that time) but even Antonio didn’t have that muchmoney. Antonio said in 3 months when his ships came back he will have thousandsof ducats. But Bassanio said that is too long to wait.
- Oh no! And we just got news that Antonio's ships were lost.
- You are ordered by the court to appear for not paying Shylock back his money.
- Antonio decided to make a deal with Shylock for Bassanio. He went to Shylock’s shop. Shylock said he will give 3000 ducats but if Antonio does not give him the whole amount of money by the end of the 3 months Shylock would cut a pound of Antonio's flesh. Bassanio said please don’t do it but Antonio wanted to help, and so he accepted
- No. I don't want the money back or his property. I want the 1 pound of flesh.
- This contract is inhuman.
- On the day of the wedding Bassanio and his wife Portia get married andthey have a big feast. They got rings and got presents. Antonio was like familyto them. Bassanio and Portia were very happy together.
- Fine, you can take the pound of flesh, but if there is even one drop of blood then you are guilty
- Ten days before Antonio’s ships were to arrive, a note comes in from thecourt saying he will be sentenced to court for not paying Shylock. Then twoguards from the court take Antonio. Bassanio and Portia got a note they therewas a storm where Antonio’s ships were lost.
- When Antonio was sent to the court, the judge looked at the signed paperand told Antonio this is inhuman. All of a sudden a lawyer came to the court asthe lawyer of Antonio. The lawyer said “Shylock you own all Antonio’s belongings and his belongings inthe sea” then Shylock said “no, I wants the 1 pound of flesh.”
- The lawyer then says, “you can take the one pound of flesh, but not onedrop of blood should drop.” Antonio then finds out that the lawyer was Portiain disguise. Shylock learns a lesson and the ships are found and everything ends happily.
