In the beginning, June was more quiet and reserved following Finn's death. She would rarely talk to those around her, retreating into the woods at times to be alone and imagine she was in the middle ages, attempting to escape the real world for a while. However, as time continued, June began to open up, to Greta at first and later to Toby, mourning Finn less and less over time. June begins to interact more, attending parties with Greta and seeking Toby later in the novel.
In the beginning of the story, June did not interact much with the people around her after Finn's death, being reserved and quite introverted. She often retreated to the woods to be alone in her own thoughts, using the middle ages as a form of escapism in her mind.
As time goes on, June begins to interact with people more and mourn less. She starts to open up to her sister Greta as she invites June to parties. At those parties, June eventually becomes less and less isolated and reserved, interacting with those around her more and more.
