- This book takes place in many spots but the main part was when they went to there Uncle Rash-ids house, this book takes place on a black train as well. The book also takes place in Pakistan and in India, July, August and September. The book is in the year 1947 when India was split in half.
- Solution
- Nisha is he main character, she has long dark brown hair and dark brown eyes with a round face and a small mouth.She is brave, helpful, but she worries a-lot. She loves to cook, she is Hindu and Muslim, her mother passed away when she was born. She has a twin brother(Amil, a grandma(Dadi) and her dad(Papa), housekeeper (Kazi).
- Authors Purpose & Theme/lesson
- The problem is that India is free from the British rule but, now India is being split in two now its going to be India and Pakistan, the family must cross the border to get to India, and leave family behind, like there housekeeper Kazi .
- Timeline
- The solution is that they must go on a journey across Pakistan to cross the border, the solution to having to leave family behind is that there is family across the border and near the end Kazi secretly crosses the border.
- The authors purpose is to entertain you with a ride of emotions, and dangerous stunts. The theme or lesson of the book is that you must keep on trying!

- The four timelines happen when they first encounter a man who has been stabbed in the arm and they stopped to help him, hen they became super dehydrated and were all really sick but then it rained. They were just about at Uncle Rash-ids house when a man put a knife to Nishas neck, the most horrific of them all was when they were on a train and it came to a stop and people were fighting outside the train and lots of people died
