Looks like baby is hunrgy. Time for a feeding

Travel into Mom's Body:

-Mothers have hyper sensitive hormones after birth.

- When Mom hears the baby crying, sees, touches, or smells the baby her body kicks into action (stimulus) starting with Oxytocin. That is the hormone that signals the alveoli (sac in the breast) to contract and release the milk made by the mammary glands (response).

This is the worst part about feeding.

Lactacion is a positive feedback loop, this means that the mother can only secrete milk through the milk ducts (they surround the nipple) as well as the baby can latch onto the nipple and suck. Better suckle= better milk flow. For this the nipple grows in size so that the baby can latch easier. This doesn't mean there isn't trouble those first few times.

I just want food...

If the baby has trouble latching or mom is upset the feeding can go left. Since lactation is triggered by hormones and emotions it can be negatively affected by mom/baby's mood. This can cause milk to stop flowing and clots to form. To avoid reaching this point positioning is important. Baby should have majority of the areola in their mouth while mom cradles their body and keep their head/neck up. The two of them should also be relaxed and calm to reach the goal: Feed baby
