- Spanish explorer Bruno Heceta claims the land for Spain.
- Gold Rush
- Statehood
- Washington was the 42nd state admitted into statehood on November 11, 1889.
- Seattle's population booms as a result of the Klondike Gold Rush.
- Mount Saint Helens
- The Space Needle
- On May 18, 1980, Mount Saint Helens erupted, triggering the largest landslide ever recorded at the time. It was the deadliest volcanic eruption in US history.
- The Space Needle opens in Seattle on April 21st for the World Fair.
