  • Three Times Lucky is set in a tiny Southern town called Tupelo Landing, North Carolina. It has a population of 148.
  • The Cafe is the site of most of the action in Three Times Lucky. It is where all the residents from the small town like to come to eat and to gossip about local events. It is also where Mo, Miss Lana and the Colonel live in their attached quarters.
  • Dale lives with his mother, Miss Rose, and his father, Mr. Macon. Lavender, Dale's brother, moved out on his own as soon as he turned 18 because Mr. Macon is an abusive alcoholic. They have a dog, Queen Elizabeth II, and a donkey. The property also contains Miss Rose's garden and an old tobacco barn which Dale is responsible for cleaning out.
  • Mr. Jesse's house is across the river from the Cafe. It is the site where Dale "borrowed" Mr. Jesse's boat. The river is where Mo places her messages in a bottle to her "upstream mother". It is also the site of the murder!
