Wolf Hollow is about 12-year-old Annabelle McBride as she grows up in the shadow of World War I and in the midst of World War II. It takes place in a small rural town in western Pennsylvania called Wolf Hollow. The story begins: "The year I turned twelve, I learned how to lie."

  • In the Prologue, Annabelle says, “The year I turned twelve, I learned that what I said and what I did mattered.” The year when Betty Glengarry, the "dark hearted girl" who came to Wolf Hollow, wreaked havoc on Annabelle's life. There were many instances when Annabelle didn't speak up about the wrongs that were occurring. However, we see Annabelle gain strength and courage as she stands up for herself and Toby and discovers her voice.
