- Thomas Jefferson always wanted to know how the land in the West was and who lived there. In 1803, Thomas Jefferson sent James Monroe, an American, to discuss a deal with the French.
- Box 4 Alamo
- Captain Lewis along with his co - leader, Captain William Clark were selected to lead the expedition to explore the new land. They traveled 15 to 20 miles each day through very bad conditions.
- Box 5 Oregon Trail
- In 1838, President Andrew Jackson told the U.S army to take the Cherokee off their lands. The Congress passed the vital Indian removal act . The act forced all the Native Americans to move to reservations.

- An American business man named Stephen Austin wanted to start a project to settle people from the US to Texas during 1820's. Sam Houston, who was the leader of the Texas Army recruited more soldiers to help defeat the Mexican Army during the battle near San Jacinto River.
- The Oregon Trail runs from East to West across the United States. Cholera , which killed a lot of emigrants was very dangerous along the Oregon Trail.
- Most of the minors who were from The United States emigrated to California during the gold rush . The first person to discover gold was James Marshall, A Carpenter in 1848 near the American River.
