Pardon, Miss, can I go home? I had no sleep last night an I am incredibly tired, I can't concentrate at all.
Bu-but Miss
At the end of this lesson you can, Claudia, I need to teach you all why you are so tired all the time.
Go sit down please, Claudia.
Attention students, there has been a change in our class today... we are going to learn about why we can't fall asleep at night.
Insomnia is a sleeping disorder that the majority of people may experience sometime in their life. It is when people have difficulty falling asleep or staying asleep. People can experience either Primary insomnia or Secondary insomnia.
There is a hormone called melatonin and it is produced in our brain. It is the hormone that regulates our sleeping pattern. For teens, this hormone is produced later at night than it is for children and adults, making it more difficult for teenagers to fall asleep.
Primary insomnia, not linked to mental conditions or health conditions, primarily stress over certain things, noises around you, lights, temperature change or schedule changes such as different work shifts, jet lag or possibly some bad habits of device use late at night.
