Stuart Little is a classic novel that will win over second to fifth graders as they read about this unique mouse's adventures in New York City. The story is full of fun characters, like Snowbell the Cat who bullies Stuart and tries to rid the house of him, and Margalo the bird – Stuart’s dearest friend. When Margalo disappears from home, Stuart sets off to find her, his biggest adventure yet.

- EXPOSITION
- When I jerk three times on the string, pull me up! I know I can get it!
- CONFLICT
- That'll teach him to show off. Now they'll think he's gone forever!
- RISING ACTION
- My name is Margalo, I come from fields once tall with wheat, from pastures deep in fern and thistle.
- Stuart is born a mouse to a caring human family. Even though he is very different from the rest of his family, he uses his size to his advantage.
- CLIMAX
- Snowbell the cat causes trouble for Stuart. When Stuart gets stuck in a window shade, he places Stuart's hat and cane into the very mouse hole that The Littles were nervous about.
- FALLING ACTION
- The Little family adopt a wounded bird named, Margalo. A true friendship is formed between Stuart and Margalo.
- RESOLUTION

- Snowbell's friend Angora threatens the life of Margalo and she flees without telling Stuart.
- Stuart sets off on a quest in a toy car to find Margalo. He stops in a town called Ames Crossing and meets a girl his own size, Harriet Ames. He invites her on a date, but his plans are ruined and he is inconsolable.
- He has not yet found his friend Margalo, but he feels confident that he can. Stuart drives north, knowing he is going in the right direction.
