Before the French Revolution France was in a horrible state. France had a horrible smell due to the uncleanliness of the people and town. The leather industry was also a problem because it just contributed to the filth and smell of France. Even after the revolution it left dead bodies adding to the horrible smell that would soon concern the people and their health.
