Storyboard Text

  • Roman emperors lived in places like... Blachernae Palace,Constantinople (the Great Palace), and Palatine Hill
  • They ate meat, fish, vegetables, eggs, cheese, grains (also as bread) and legumes. Meat included animals like dormice (an expensive delicacy), hare, snails and boar.
  • The emperor was the permanent leader of the senate as well as of the religious office. His duties included the overlooking of proceedings of the senate and also managing the affairs of the Roman provinces.
  • Children who came from rich families were properly taught and had their own private tutors, BUT ONLY FOR BOYS.
  • Confucianism became the state religion and grew more and more popular even though other religions, like Taoism, were also practiced.
  • People worshipped the gods in temples where they made sacrifices of animals and precious things. The Romans believed that blood sacrifices were the best way to communicate with the gods.
