- In the beginning of the novel Matilda asked to go to school but her parents said she was too young until a principle from a disciplinary school came to Matilda's dad car dealer shop and in exchange for the car Matilda can go to the school that the principle worked at.
- Matilda was so excited for her first day of school. When she finally arrived she so happy to see kids her age and was ready to learn new things that she didn't already learn.
- Matilda finally gets to her classroom she was so happy to have a really nice teacher named Miss Honey. Miss Honey's classroom was the most colorful place in the entire school.
- Miss Trunchbull found out that one of the kids was eating her chocolate cake so she decided to embarrass him in front of the whole school. She made the lunch lady prepare one large chocolate cake for the boy to eat. If he did not eat the entire cake she would put him in the closet full of nails also known as chokey that was in her office.
- Miss Trunchbull puts Matilda in the closet full of nails also called the chokey. Matilda's father sold Miss Trunchbull a used, broken down car so Miss Trunchbull punished Matilda for her father's actions. Matilda was later saved by Miss Honey.
- Matilda's parents were getting chased by the cops because the cops found out what Matilda's dad does at his job so they were going to move away but Matilda didn't want to go. So she asked her parents if she could stay will Miss Honey at first her parents said no but then Matilda asked again and they said yes so Matilda asked her parents to sign the adoption papers so she can legally be adopted by Miss Honey and her parents did. Matilda and Miss Honey lived happily ever after.
