- Elena and her friends live hours away from each other and barely get to catch up. They wait until they see each other to deliver important news.
- When Elena visits her hometown, she and her friends grab dinner during the evening to catch up on everything that’s happened since they last saw each other. As Elena excitedly tells her two friends about the latest and most surprising news about her and her boyfriend Stefan, she tries to hear their responses…
- Oh! I almost forgot to say the most exciting news. I’m getting married! Stefan proposed to me yesterday with a candlelit dinner and roses, and he even got someone to write “Will you marry me?” in the sky!
- Congratulations! That's beautiful. So when is the wedding? I'm sure you have an ideal wedding dress that you’re dying to try on. You should definitely go to the store-
- I feel sick and queasy
- EXCUSE ME WE'RE TRYING TO GET THROUGH!
- THATS WRONG SARAH! COFFEE IS THE BEST ICE CREAM FLAVOR.
- Yeah, sure Jake. As if chocolate chip doesn't exist.
- Sender: Elena (the one in the pink shirt) wanted to talk to her friends about how her boyfriend proposed to her a week ago. Encoding: Elena remembers the biggest news she had for her friends and realizes that she almost forgot to tell them that she is getting married, and wants to tell them because she’s excited. She tries to sum up how her boyfriend proposed to her in her message. Message: The message is talking about how Stefan (her boyfriend) proposed to her. More specifically, that he was very romantic and had a candlelit dinner, gave her roses, and hired someone to write “Will you marry me?” in the sky. Communication channel: Mouth/Face-to-faceReceiver: The woman in the purple shirt and the man in the blue shirt received her message. Communication barriers: The man in the blue shirt feels very nauseous, and is trying to pay attention to Elena’s proposal story (Physical). While the woman in purple was speaking, people started walking around them to get by and were talking loudly (Physical Noise and Environment). Decoding: Elena’s friends view her experience as unique, romantic, and beautiful, and wonder about the details of the wedding. Feedback: The woman in purple gives feedback by responding, “Congratulations! That’s beautiful. So when is the wedding? I'm sure you have an ideal wedding dress that you’re dying to try on. ”, which shows that she understood the message and that she is intrigued/interested. She then tries to add her own opinion on good wedding dress stores before getting cut off by the people walking by and talking.
