- Nobody knew what to do. So, Mohammad Hatta, Sukarno, and Sutan Sjahrir decided to get captured to outrage international support.

- After Mohammad Hatta and the others got captured, the Dutch's attack on Yogyakarta was well published internationally with many newspapers, including those in the US.

- When the US heard about the tragic situation, they threatened the Dutch. The Dutch became scared because the US were going to suspend the Marshall Plan Aid! On 24 December, the UN Security Council called for the end of hostilities. Finally, the Dutch announced a ceasefire in Java on 31 December and on 5 January in Sumatra. The problem was finally solved when the Dutch signed the Roem-Van Roijen Agreement at the round table conference.
