The Younger family lives in a very small rundown apartment in Chicago of 1950. The family of five shares a bathroom with other people living in the same apartment as them.Travis asks rut for 50 cents to buy his history book for school but Ruth refuses to give any. However, Walter hands him a dollar telling him to take a taxicab to school or buy some fruits with the extra 50 cents he received.

The younger family were happy to receive an insurance check, but argues about what to spend the money on. Beneatha wants to become a doctor which was very unusual and uncommon in the 1950s. Walter wanted to open a liquor store with his friends Bobo and Willy. However, Mama is upset because it seemed like the rest were celebrating her husband's death.

Ruth finds out that she has been pregnant for 2 months. Beneatha has problems with George and Asagai. Walter didn't come home for almost a day because he had an argument with Beneatha about money. Mama slapped Beneatha for not respecting god. Mama also bought a house at Clybourne park.
Resolution

Walter has lost all the money that was supposed to be used for Beneatha's med school and for his liquor store investment because his friend Willy Harris has ran away with the money.
Karl Linder who represents the white community in Clybourne park, had offered money to not move into their new house that Mama bought for them.
The Younger family has decided to move into their new home despite the fact that their neighbours are all white and racist and that they may have a very hard time living in their new home due to financial problems and etc.
