Poor Madeline, my beloved twin sister has passed.
An unnamed speaker receives a letter from his childhood friend Roderick Usher. The speaker responds by going to Usher's house, which he discovers to be quite creepy.
(explicit classical music)
Upon entering, he meets Usher and finds that he is sickly. Usher explains that his sister Madeline has trouble sleeping, and will die soon. Usher also says that he is afraid of fear itself, and he believes the house is haunted.
Madeline dies and due to a lack of access to the familiy's burial ground, Usher lays her in a vault.
Over the next few days, the speaker tries to cheer up Usher. They try painting but Usher's paintings are sad, so they try music and Usher screams to a Van Burren song.
One night during a terrible storm, some strange sounds began coming from the vault. About that time Usher began to rock back and forth and babble about Madeline actualy being alive. Madeline then came into the room and jumped on Usher, killing them both.
The narrator ran from the house and just as he was about to leave the premises, he turns around to see the mansion collapse.
