As Martin Luther spent time in Rome he came to learn that the people were forced to give money to the chruch. They had to "Pay for their sins." Martin Luther knew this was wrong and was going to fix it!
Martin Luther wrote the Ninety Five Thesis in 1517. This teaches that a person is still required to have his grave sins absolved, through the sacrament of confession. Not by giving money to the church!
