Muhammad was born in 570 C.E in the town of Makkah.
The Hijrah
One day, Muhammad went to pray in a cave in the mountains. While there, he was visited by the angel Gabriel who declared him to be God's prophet.
The Call back to Mecca
Muhammad began to preach to other citexin, which some converted to become Muslim. Most Makkans rejected him, though, and called him a liar, tortured his followers, and even started a boycott which resulted in his family members dying.
Muhammad's Death
Soon after, Muhammad and his followers left Makkah on a journey known as the hijrah to Medina. Muhammad developed a Muslim community there. In 624, fighting broke out between the Muslims and the Mekka citizens. They eventually made a truce.
Muhammad returned to Mecca with an army of 1500 converts to Islam and entered the city unopposed and without bloodshed.
In March 632, Muhammad led his final pilgrimage. In Makkah, he delivered his Last Sermon. Shortly after he returned to Madinah, Muhammad died.
