- The British Parliament raised the taxes
- The Boston Massacre
- The Boston Tea Party
- British Parliament passed a new law that raised the taxes on paper products. This made the colonists very upset because they didn't get to vote for that law.
- The Battle of Lexington and Concord
- Britain continues to add more taxes and they made the colonists more protested. Because the colonists protested, Britain sent soldiers to control them.
- The Second Continental Congress
- At that time, tea was the favorite drink in the colonies , because of that Britain added more tax on tea. Because the colonists very angry, at night they dressed up as Indian and dumped the tea from 3 ships at Boston Harbor.
- The Declaration of Independence
- Many colonist farmers and businessmen armed themselves, British soldiers were called redcoats and they marched from Boston to Concord to take away colonists weapons and guns. On the night of April 18, 1775, Paul Revere rode his horse from farm to farm shouting "the British were coming" and the battle begin.
- They met again in Philadelphia, and they argued that is was time to separated from Britain. They wanted their Independence.
- Thomas Jefferson wrote a document to declare their independence from Britain. The document was approved on July 4th, 1776.
