Emilia: O, the more angel she, and you the blacker devil!
Othello: She's like a liar gone to burning hell! Twas that I killed her.
The relevant issue in the scene to the left and the movement to the right is the racial stereotype that colored people are violent and should be feared. In the "Othello" scene, Othello had killed Desdemona because she was disloyal. During a conversation between Emilia and Othello, Emilia then refers to Desdemona as the angel that she is and refers to Othello as a black devil. She sees the color of his skin as a very relevant factor to his aggressive characteristics, which relates to the recent Black Lives Matter movement. The purpose of the movement is to break the stigma of violent stereotypes towards African Americans after losing several lives to ignorant police officers, who saw black people as a threat with no apparent reasoning. It included protests, speeches, rallies and more. They were fighting for a voice and to change the perspective that many have had towards colored individuals for so long.
