During the French and Indian War the British were allies. However, the Cherokee settlements were attacked by the French and their Indian allies in the SC Backcountry. The colonists did not come to the Cherokee's aid and tension had been building with the colonist.

OH NO THE CHEROKEE
The Cherokee felt that they were being cheated in trade agreements. This led to fights between the Cherokee and the colonist. When the Cherokee attacked the colonist settlements, the colonists retaliated. The royal governor attempted to control the action of the Cherokee by ending all trade with them and taking hostages.

The Cherokee War lasted two years causing both sides to have many losses. The Cherokee War ended in 1763. The Cherokee were forced to give up much of their land, they were also forced to live in the "Cherokee Territory" west of the colony. This war affected the relationship of the English colonists and the Cherokee for many years.
