Hello Joe! Long time no see... so I recently just moved into a city called Jakarta. So far, I would say that the city looks so much more advanced than where we usually lived in. Oh ye, if you forget I'm your cousin Bob.
This means that Urbanization can also means the development of a certain urban area. With having more people living in the area, there are needs of expansion, as well as more economic circulation. People that migrate could be spread around the urban area to have a balanced development(facilities, homes, buildings), this could also be called Urban Growth.
If you didn't know, this process is called urbanization. It is when people move or shift from rural to urban areas. Usually it is measured in amount of people, but in this case I am part of them too!
Some examples of different kind urban areas are towns, cities, suburbs, and megapolis. So... Jakarta is a big city, obviously they are better than our village. But lets dig deeper on what other good things we can find.
One of them is the education, there are a lot of Indonesian near and far go to Jakarta for better education options. They have the best public school and universities. Even some people from other countries come to study in Jakarta.
ACG School Jakarta(Top international school in Jakarta), Binus University(One of the best university in Jakarta).
So, based on ceicdata.com in 2018 the employment rate in Jakarta was 93.i76%. It was pretty high, I'm pretty sure right now it is still increasing which shows us a good sign.
You can maybe already guess that in this city there are a lot of stores and business. With people living here, it is easier for them to get daily life supplies or things that they need. Anything... you want clothes, foods, furniture, and others.
Not only that, since there are a lot of shops and businesses here, that means there are more job opportunities for people who just moved in here, they also provide higher salary. Currently I am working in this shop next to me as a cashier, it is not that great, but at the very least it stills provide me enough money for my daily needs. If you come here, maybe you can be employed in industrial sectors.
Not only schools and universities, Jakarta also have many public facilities that can help its society. Public facilities like public transportation, hospitals, malls, markets, banks, and others
Based on apnews.com there are 5341 schools ranging from elementary to high school in Jakarta. Based on statista.com there are 40,320 medical specialist, and 143,626 general practitioner.
Even though there are advantages for living in Jakarta, there are also some disadvantages towards the society for living in Jakarta.
One of the example is about pollution, since Jakarta is a big city there are a lot of factories, manufacturing, and including people's waste. Based on iqair.com Jakarta is ranked 126th out of all the most polluted cities around the world in 2019.
