John Adams_______________________John Adams was the first Vice President of the United States and he is also a founding father of the country itself. He was born on October 30, 1735, and he died on July 4, 1826. July the fourth was the day that the U.S. signed the Declaration of Independence, thus setting the colonists free from Britain's rule. The day is now known as Independence Day, but it is only celebrated in the U.S. as no other countries were independent from Britain's rule at the time. His wife, Abigail Adams, wrote him a letter about making sure that he would not forget the nation’s women when becoming independent from Britain.
Abigail Adams___________________________Hailed for her now-famous admonition that the Founding Fathers “remember the ladies” in their new laws, Abigail Adams was not only an early advocate for women's rights, she was a vital confidant and advisor to her husband John Adams, the nation's second president. She opposed slavery and supported women's education.
Letter To John Adams______________________________________In a letter dated March 31, 1776, Abigail Adams writes to her husband, John Adams, urging him and the other members of the Continental Congress not to forget about the nation's women when fighting for America's independence from Great Britain. ... Do not put such unlimited power into the hands of the husbands.
