- Mecca, a city in western Arabia, used as a stopping point for caravans during specific holy months. They gathered believers who came to the city's Ka'aba, a historic shrine, to worship. Abraham was a Hebrew prophet and a follower of the one God, and the Arabs connected this place of worship with him. The Ka'aba had more than 360 idols that were brought by various tribes.The Arabian Peninsula was aware of the idea of a single God, known in Arabic as Allah.
