Ralph decides that he needs to have a serious meeting in contrast to the silly meetings they've had in the past. This is because their assigned jobs and organization within their society are not in order.
Ralph addresses their situation, stating that this cannot be a sit-down meeting where everyone shares their ideas, but a list of what needs to be done ranked by importance.
The littluns are eating dirty fruit around the island, and are not using the designated area that acts as a restroom.
Furthermore, no one seems to realize the importance of keeping the fire going. If they want to have decently cooked food while on the island, they want to be rescued, they will have to stop fooling around.
Then a couple of the littluns recall nightmares they've recently had about a beast they have awoken to.
Jack takes reckless action in order to slay the beast. This is not only in an attempt for power but is a result of his consumingly savage nature and obsession with the challenge.
