- The Main character of the book Kamran gets picked up from a school dance by his mother. He had gotten into a fight with another kid who said racist things about him. When his mother picked him up she looked extremely sad and didn't know that Kamran had been fighting. She eventually told Kamran that she wasn't at the school because of the fight but because Kamran's brother Darius was on the news attacking a U.S embassy in turkey.
- "There was something in these videos that could clear Darius's name. A secrete message only I could understand"(Gratz, 17).
- "I’d very much like to go over those tapes of Darius again with you”(Gratz, 27).
- Kamrans brother was a U.S army ranger who went to West Point. Al-Quaeda released the video of him attacking the embassy and another video taking ownership of the attack. Shortly after the videos were published people from the military raided Kamrans house. Kamran and his mother were infuriated because they believed Darius was a prisoner of Al-Quada and was being used as an actor.
- After thinking heavily about what he should do Kamran decides that he needs to prove Darius's innocence. He watches the full videos and realizes that Darius is trying to send him messages through the videos. Once Kamran realizes this he spends hours upon hours scanning the videos for anything Darius is trying to tell him. After hours of scanning a gorier video including Darius is published from Al-Quada.
- The recent video from Darius influenced the FBI to detain Kamran for questioning. Kamran is interrogated and tells the government that Darius is trying to send messages through his videos. The government doesn't believe him whatsoever and dismisses his brother as a terrorist. After all the interrogations Kamran meets a man named Mickey Hogan who believes what he is saying and wants to review the videos with him.
- After a full month of analyzing videos Kamran and Mickey collect enough information to block a terrorist attack in Afghanistan. Kamran developes a theory that Darius is in America and even Mickey doesn't believe him. After the attack was thwarted Kamran thinks that Mickey abandoned him as Mickey doesn't visit his cell for a while. After 4 days Mickey helps Kamran escape his cell and tells him that he believes the theory about Darius but needed to take matters into his own hands because everyone else thinks Kamran is lying.
- Mickey and Kamran meet with one of Mickey's older friends. The group makes the long journey from the facility Kamran was held at to Arizona where they suspect Darius is being held. They hope to free Darius and stop the terrorist group that is stationed in Arizona. They arrive after a long journey and begin searching.
