The man of laws is the fifth story in the Canterbury tales.
Climax
A Syrian trader visits Rome and sees Constance, the emperors daughter. When he returns to Syria he tells the Sultan about her, and he wants to marry her. Constance is Christian and the Sultan is Muslim so he converts to Christianity and calls for her.
Falling Action
Constance husband and the other Christians were killed but she escaped and Constance crashes on Northunderland and is found by a warden who lets her live in the castle. Constance is framed for a murder she never committed and is sent to King Alla who was also Muslim but turned christian after witnessing a miracle.
Resolution
Alla and Constance get married and while he is at war Constance has a son. Allas mother changes letters sent between the couple. Constance and her son get thrown out of the castle. King Alla kills his mother when he finds out what she's done.
Constance's father sends Roman Christians to Syria. On the way back to Rome, they find Constance and take her but no one knows her identity. Alla goes to Rome to repent for killing his mother. Here he finds Mauricius, his son, and reunites with Constance
Constance tells her father her true identity and everyone is glad to have her back. Alla, Constance, and Mauricius move to England, but one year later Alla dies and Constance moves back to Rome
