  • Good morning class today we are learning about Elasticity and Magnetism. Can anyone tell me what Elasticity is?
  • Elasticity and Magnetism
  • Hmm how hard it is to pull something?
  • Nooo Elasticity is once an object is stretched or compressed it resumes its natural shape.
  • Correct! An examples of gravity is when you throw a ball in the air and gravity will pull it back down towards the Earth. Since you are on the Earth it will come back to you.
  • Correct 3 examples of elasticity are when you put on your sock it stretches around your foot and can still fit around your ankle, when you walk the sole of your shoe gets compressed and stretches when you put your weight on it, and when you fill up a balloon the balloon stretches because the air is forcing the rubber to expand and stretch.
  • Gravity and Sliding Friction Elasticity and Magnetism
  • Ok, does anyone know what sliding friction is?
  • Can anyone tell me what Magnetism is?
  • Gravity and Sliding Friction Elasticity and Magnetism
  • Sliding friction is the resistance created by any two objects when sliding against each other.
  • A force that can attract or repel objects that have a magnetic material such as iron, nickel and cobalt.
  • Yeah and we use magnetic force to find our way using a compass.
  • Sliding friction creates heat, that's why you would rub your hands together so that they can get warmer from the friction.
  • Great job you are both correct! Two other examples of magnetism are MRI scanning and even in your refrigerator!
