- Making a short deft movement, Tom Buchanan broke her nose with his open hand.Pg.37
- It was late at night, and the group was just in random places. They had been partying and drinking and it was all peaceful for a moment. All of a sudden Tom and Myrtle were arguing. Myrtle kept repeating Daisy, Tom's Wife's name, which caused Tom to break her nose. This points to the fact of how abusive Tom is and how horrible he is.
- "I'll say it whenever I want to! DAISY! DAI---"Pg.37
- "HELLO !"(I roared, advancing toward her.Pg.42
- Nick gets an invitation by Gatsby to his house party. Gatsby always throws huge parties and most of the people are not invited,they just show up, so Nick feels special. This is Nick's first party at Gatsby's. When he arrives, he tries to find Gatsby. After no luck, he finds Jordan Baker coming out of the house and here in this scene we see their little conversation.
- " I thought you might be here..... I remembered you lived next door to---"Pg.42
- "Much better.....This is an unusual party for me. I haven't even seen the host. I live over there---and this man Gatsby sent over his chauffeur with an invitation."Pg.47
- "Having a gay time now?"she inquired.Pg.47
- After a while in the party, Nick is approached by a man smiling at him. The man starts to talk about how he looks familiar and if he was in a certain war. They start to talk and then Jordan asks if Nick is having a good time. Nick then says to her how he still has not met his host, Gatsby. The man Nick has been talking to reveals to him that he is Gatsby.
- "I'm Gatsby," he said suddenly.Pg.48
