When I was younger I was always fascinated how living things received different traits from their two different parents. I must make an experiment to test this.
Tomorrow I am going to test this by producing the offspring of different color peas and seeing what is made. My hypothesis is that it will be random and 50/50 between the two parents.
Then I took those 2 peas that were produced and produced 4 more. This resulted in 75% of them being orange and 25% green
I have performed my experiment and have produced 4 offsprings of both orange and green peas. All four of the outcomes resulted in the offspring to be orange.
When Carter, from this we can learn that there are both dominant and recessive genes. The dominant genes have a much higher chance to appear while the recessive don't have much of a higher chance.
But sir how can we learn from this experiment about inheritance.
So because of this we are given the knowledge that different genes that we inherit are past down from generations. While some we are given and some we are not.
Well kiddos, DNA is made up of genes and those same genes are both dominant or recessive. They make up what we look like and other traits.
Oh ok, thank you! How does this relate to what we already know about DNA?
