The Pax Romana was a period of peace that lasted from 27 B.C.E. to 180 C.E. which was a span of 207 years. This period of peace happened because Rome had a stable government and great leadership.
We love the government!
The Roman Empire had great builders who built roads, bridges, aqueducts, and large cities. This allowed the Roman troops to move quickly and conquer new places. At one point, they were considered the greatest empire, but Rome eventually started to get too big!
CONSTRUCTION ZONE
I can't believe the Romans really built this!
As Rome got larger their type of government started to fail. The type of government they had was not designed for their massive empire. The gap between the rich and poor also grew larger, and Rome did not have enough money to keep up with maintaining their bridges, roads, and aqueducts. They also conquered so many people and not all of them had loyalty to the person with the power.
Did you know the Western Empire collapsed because the richer Eastern Empire no longer supported the west!
