Lucia wakes up from her distressing dream and gets ready for the day. Her real mother, Ixchel, assures her that she's not just a pawn for her father.
Lucia's high class family is introduced and Lucia meets Cristobal, the man which she is to be married. Ignacio picks them up for mass.
During mass, the unusual snake slithers in the background before being shooed away by a young ward. Ignacio speaks of the sins of Eve.
Lucia stalls for time strolling in the church gardens. She meets her sister, Isabel, and expresses concerns about her engagement to Cristobal. As sunset approaches, the snake quickly bites the unaware Lucia's hand. Ixchel arrives and escorts Lucia home.
As Lucia's father, Bartolome, welcomes many nobles to his party, the snake's poison begins to take hold in Lucia's body. She faints and shocks the audience. Ixchel and Cristobal run over to help while Bartolome looks on in disappointment.
Ixchel is wary and suspects the snake's true nature. She contemplates Lucia's life and the consequences of what she might do by turning Lucia.
Being so close to death, Lucia begins to see the Underworld and Mitclan welcomes her soul. As Ixchel intervenes through Lucia's body, Mitclan resolves with calm fury that they will see her soon.
Lucia's close family leave after believing that she has no hope to live. Alone with Lucia, Ixchel decides to save her daughter's life by sharing her vampiric blood. Ignacio sees part of the act through cracks in the door, but couldn't confirm what had happened.
Father is talking to Cristobal, preparing the wedding. Cristobal is amazed by Lucia's unnatural recovery and refers to it as a miracle. As Lucia copes with her new senses, she touches his hand and cannot feel his blood pumping.
