- King Duncan along with his sons Malcolm and Donalbain as well as a young thane named Lennox are gathered around a wounded general asking him what happened in the revolt battle by Macdonwald against the King
- Hail, brave friend! Say to the king the knowledge of the broilAs thou didst leave it.
- I shall.
- For a while, it seemed as though we were going to lose, that Macdonwald had luck on his side. The battle was fierce but brave Macbeth fought with brilliance and defeated the army, hanging Macdonwald's head on our castle battlements
- O valiant cousin! What a worthy gentleman!
- But that is not all...
- As soon as things got better for Macbeth, the Norwegian king, Sweno, along with the traitorous Thane of Cawdor began a fresh assault...
- Dismayed not this our captains, Macbeth and Banquo?
- Not at all, Macbeth and Banquo were as scared as eagles in front of sparrows or lions in front of hares. If I say sooth, I must report they were, as cannons overcharged with double cracks, so they doubly redoubled strokes upon the foe.
