Europeans and Maori had between each other. Bishop Pompallier was a very hard working person and he had a very positive impact on establishing Christianity in NZ. When Bishop Pompallier was younger he was in the Lyons seminary but eventually became the leader of his own missions.
Bishop Pompallier lived in France when he retired. Bishop Pompallier died on the 21st of December 1871 in Puteax, where he was then buried. His remains
were then returned to NZ to be put back into the ground on the 20th of April 2002 in Hokianga. he was lived a short life but he had a huge impact on
where we are today. He planted the seed for New Zealand's Christianity and
he helped get New Zealand to where we are now.
