"The Louisiana Purchase" was a huge event taking place in 1803 that would affect America forever. The U.S bought a huge piece of Louisiana territory from the French. This cost 15 million dollars, and then doubled the size of the U.S!

Life was unfair for lots of people in Mexico. The Natives had it really rough lives because they were forced into work and poverty, unlike the higher class Peninsular, and Creoles.

Father Miguel Hidalgo was a priest living in New Spain. He wanted to help free the Mexicans from their unfair situation while under Spanish rule. With great bravery, he was able to spread the word, and motivate people but was unfortunately shot and killed by a Spaniard in 1811.

A filibuster is a person or group engaging in illegal warfare. This means they did not have government permission, and this was something they planned on their own. It is highly illegal, and they were normally prosecuted.

The Battle of Medina was a fight taking place on August 18th, 1813. It was fought between the Republican Army of Gutierrez and Magee against Spain. While this seems like this was to help the Mexican, it was for their own benefit. It is known to be "the bloodiest war fought on Texas soil."

The Constitution of 1824 was a document signed by the General Constituent Congress. The document stated that people would have more rights as individual people and not as a whole government.

1. I am glad we were able to make this deal! Here is your 15 million. And in exchange, we get your land.

2. As am I. Thank you for your business.

1. Get back to work!

2. This cannot be right! This is not fair!

I understand your suffering. With help from you and other Mexicans, we can defeat the Spaniards!

Haha! Give me all you got!

Please! No! We are in no state for a war!

We were not foretold of your arrival!

You have treated my people terribly, and now you will pay!

May this document bring us peace and equality.
