- You are to kill your father and marry your own mother!
- A shepherd presents young Oedipus it to his king., and the king was so overjoyed to receive Oedipus. He and his wife are really concerned about their child.
- At a young age, Oedipus finds out about his prophecy, which is about killing his father and sleeping with his mother.
- He was afraid of the future for himself and his family, so he ran away to the nearby city of Thebes
- However, fate always finds him. Oedipus ends up killing King Lauis and his soldiers without knowing that it was his father. People from Thebes suffered from plague.
- After a series of events, the truth was out that Oedipus has married his mother and killed his father and the prophecy has been fulfilled. After Queen Jocasta found out this news, she went to her bedroom and hung herself.
- Once Oedipus found her he took a pin from her outfit and stabbed his eyes out so he may never see the tragedy he caused. Then he was banished from Thebes, so he left and his daughters, Antigone and Ismene, left with him.
